41. 主語のない日本文の訳し方

Question:

I sometimes wonder how I should choose subjects properly, because there is no subject in some Japanese sentences. Is there any good ways to solve this problem?

Answer:

In proper written English, there is always a subject in the sentence. However, in Japanese the subject is not always written but it is implied so what you need to do is understand what the implied subject is and then include it in your English translation. As far as choosing the subject, I am not sure that there are any easy tips I can give you except that the subject is generally what is performing the action in the sentence.
